Dear Ministry Partners,
As the busy summer season comes to an end, a new semester is already beginning. In this ministry letter, we would like to share several prayer requests as we prepare for the new semester and also invite you to partner with us financially for our campus ministry during the Fall 2026 semester.
This year, Gyeongseon and I will be serving alongside more than 25 student leaders across Rutgers University and six to seven other college campuses in northern New Jersey. We are especially praying that, just as we see in Acts 2, the gospel will be proclaimed on every campus, students will gather together for worship, prayer, and Bible study, and spiritual movements will grow as students help raise up other students as disciples. To help make this possible, approximately 25 gatherings of various sizes are expected to take place each week across these campuses throughout the semester.
However, these spiritual movements and the work of reaching campuses with the gospel cannot be accomplished through the efforts of missionaries and student leaders alone. All Cru missionaries are responsible for raising 100% of the financial support needed for their ministry through the partnership of those who support them.
Because of this, your prayers and financial support do far more than simply meet our needs. They are a meaningful way for you to directly partner with us in sharing the gospel on campus, discipling students, and raising up disciples who will help others follow Jesus.
Behind the journey of one student hearing the gospel, coming to know Jesus, growing through God’s Word and prayer, and becoming a disciple who shares the gospel with another student are the unseen prayers and faithful service of many people. While we are the ones meeting students face-to-face on campus, our ministry partners who stand with us through prayer and financial support are also standing with us in this ministry.
So, as we begin this fall semester, we would like to share the financial needs of our campus ministry with those of you who are reading this letter and praying with us, and invite you to prayerfully consider partnering with us financially.
One person’s support and faithful partnership can help create an opportunity for a student to hear the gospel and can be used in a meaningful way to help that student grow into a disciple who helps raise up another student.
Every financial gift you give is handled safely and transparently according to Cru’s strict financial stewardship policies and procedures. Your support will be used to help share the gospel with students, build them up in their faith, and send them out as disciples into the world.
Ministry We Hope to Build Together — Fall 2026
For the Fall 2026 semester, we especially need financial partners for the following areas of ministry. Your generous support will be used to share the gospel with students on campus, invite new students into Christian community, help them grow in their faith, and raise up disciples who will make other disciples.
Monthly Support for Our Basic Living and Ministry Needs
We are praying for six ministry partners who can give $100 per month.
This monthly support provides the essential financial foundation that enables Gyeongseon and me to serve consistently on campus—meeting with students and continuing to focus on evangelism, spiritual growth, and discipleship.
August–September New Student Outreach & Gatherings — $2,000
August and September, when the new semester begins, are the most important months for meeting new students. We need $2,000 for new student outreach and various gatherings designed to meet and invite students into our campus community.
October Bring-a-Friend & Thanksgiving Outreach Events — $2,000
We are preparing a Bring-a-Friend event and a Thanksgiving outreach event where students can naturally invite friends who do not yet know Jesus and give them an opportunity to hear the gospel. We need $2,000 for these outreach events.
October Fall Retreat Assistance & Scholarships — $1,000
The Fall Retreat is an important opportunity for students to step away from the busyness of everyday campus life, encounter God more deeply, and grow within a community of believers. We need $1,000 in financial assistance and scholarships for students who would otherwise be unable to attend because of financial difficulties.
January 2027 Eastern Region Winter Conference Assistance & Scholarships — $2,000
We need $2,000 in financial assistance and scholarships so that more students can participate in the Winter Conference, where students from across the Eastern Region gather together to hear the gospel, grow in their faith, and discover a new vision for their lives.
Evangelism Resources & Small Group Materials — $500
We need $500 for evangelism resources and small group materials that will help us share the gospel on campus and continue studying the Bible with students as we help them grow in their faith.
These needs are not simply expenses for running events. Each one is a ministry opportunity that helps us meet a student, share the gospel with them, help them grow as a disciple of Jesus, and equip them to help another student follow Him.
No one person needs to meet all of these needs. Whether God leads you to support one specific area of ministry or to give toward a portion of one of these needs, your partnership is deeply meaningful to us. As you pray, we invite you to partner with us in this campus ministry as God leads you and according to what He has placed on your heart.
Please Partner With Us in Prayer
As we begin a new semester, we would like to share the following prayer requests so that the gospel may be proclaimed on campus and students may be built up in their faith. We ask you to join us in praying together with one heart.
For New Student Outreach and Our First Gatherings
Beginning in mid-August, we will spend ten weeks intentionally reaching out to new students with the gospel and establishing and leading our first gatherings with them. Please pray that all the preparations and meeting spaces needed to introduce students to our ministry and share the gospel with them will come together well.
Especially, please pray that as new students begin their first experiences of college life, they will not drift away from the Lord, but will become connected to a community of believers where they can continue to grow in their faith.
For Our Campus Leaders and the Establishment of Our Gatherings
During the first few weeks of the semester, our student leaders will be especially busy. They arrive on campus ahead of the new students to prepare for ministry, secure classrooms for gatherings, and meet and serve students. None of these responsibilities are easy.
Please pray that the Holy Spirit will guide our student leaders and give them wisdom throughout this entire process. Pray also that through their faithful service, strong spiritual communities will become well established on each campus.
For New Jersey-Wide Ministry and Retreats
Please pray for the New Jersey Leadership Training Gathering on August 22, the J-Cru United Worship Gathering on September 25, and the Fall Retreat from October 16–18.
Please pray that through all of these gatherings, students will grow spiritually and develop a heart for God’s Kingdom. Especially, please pray that students who do not yet believe and those who have not had a personal relationship with God will encounter Jesus and be called to follow Him as His disciples.
For Gyeongseon and Heegi
Please also pray for Gyeongseon and me. About three nights each week, we finish our campus gatherings late at night and do not arrive home until around midnight. Please pray that God will protect us as we drive home late at night and give us the physical strength we need so that we will not become weary but can faithfully continue the ministry He has entrusted to us.
Please also pray that the Holy Spirit will work through our hearts and lives to raise up disciples whose hearts are shaped by Christ.
Above all, please pray that we will become more and more humble as we serve students, and that the love of Christ will be communicated to them through every word we speak and even through the smallest actions of our lives.
Dear Ministry Partners,
We are able to meet students on campus, share the gospel with them, and help raise up each person as a disciple of Jesus because of those of you who faithfully stand with us through your prayers and generous financial partnership, often behind the scenes. We believe that this ministry is not ours alone, but a precious partnership that God has entrusted to all of us together.
As we begin this new semester, we look forward with anticipation to seeing which students God will bring into our lives and what new things He will begin through each one of them. Our prayer is that throughout our campuses this semester, students will hear the gospel, encounter Jesus, and be raised up as disciples who love and serve other students.
Please continue to pray for us and for our students. And if God places it on your heart, we also invite you to partner with us in meeting the ministry needs of this semester.
We are truly grateful for each of you who faithfully stands with us through your prayers and love. We will also be praying that God’s grace and peace will abound in your families, workplaces, churches, and every area of your lives.
With the love of Christ and grateful hearts,
Heegi & Gyeongseon Kim
